Millie
this past weekend we drove to Kentucky with the sisters for the funeral of their Aunt Millie. such an emotional weekend! the service was beautiful and the pics were great and Adam sang his song perfectly and before falling apart. i know that both millie and nelda were proud of him. i was (and still am :) ). millie's husband had a really hard time (everyone could see that) but carl had a difficult time as well b/c he considered millie a sister not an in-law. adam compared it to how he would feel if we lost my baby sister....that was a heart-wrenching thought! i didnt really know millie except for the one visit we made the week before she passed, but she seemed to be a wonderful person. my pain in all this comes from seeing how all those i love miss her so and feeling their pain. she is with her Lord and together with her sister again and at some point we will be with them again :)

almost forgot!
in this interim of posts, we also got to take an anniversary trip! Travis and Sarah's parents oh so graciously loaned us their lake house in the Jasper, Ga area!!! it was one of the best trips we have been able to take since we got married! and the only one so far that didnt involve some kind of work ;) that trip was such a huge blessing! we were able to relax, be without any kind of timetable, nothing that had to be done, the chance to explore a new area.....oh the wonderfulness :) i did not want to come back at all...
so adam's interview yesterday went great! but we cant make any kind of plans until after they re-connect once the sept 15 extensions deadline is past....at least with this company. the guy also said that he would keep eyes and ears open for other opportunities for adam in that area :) and this hubby-o-mine is also still keeping an eye out for other options....so, still learning this waiting thing....

Time really flies doesnt it?
wow, it has really been a while since i have posted! sorry bout that folks!
since last we talked, i've gone on a road trip to New York to visit friends...talk about a whirlwind weekend... and on the way back, we dropped in on my grandparents. lovely visit, and my Pepere gave me his old camera! it is a really nice Nikon with several lenses and the flash and the tripod and the filters and can you tell i'm excited? lol so once i found some film (that was rather hard actually, target was the only place i found who still sells it!) it was time to experiment. up to this point, i've only finished 2 rolls but there is definite improvement between them. i really like this new hobby and am very grateful to Pepere for inspiring it!
then we helped to chaperon the youth group on the mission trip to LaGrange, Wyoming. that was a long drive, but we got a lot done and hopefully we were a blessing to the people there. the kids all worked really hard; we are proud of them :) the dorm we were told to paint actually survived hehehehe :P not too much paint where it didnt belong....lol (bill and karen made sure it got cleaned very well, btw) we took lots and lots of pictures while on the road to and from Wyoming (and in between). keep an eye on facebook for those, they will probably be on his page tho....
work has changed again for me...i now make the biscuits for breakfast, the salads for lunch, and wash all the dishes afterwards.....its been fun! but i do still miss the busy-ness of the drivethru. i just have a different busy-ness now lol :)
on the career front, adam has an interview tomorrow in birmingham! its finally happening! the last time it was scheduled, the car died (like really died, is no more) and he was rescued by a friend in the area until i got off work, but at least they got a phone interview, sort of.....here's to hopefully being able to make plans soon!
and yes, we are down to just my car....again....have i mentioned how much i like my car? and how much i really dont like to be taxied around? oh well, it is only for a time and a purpose...and i love that he still asks me if i would like to drive :) we split it anyway ;)

The Times...They Are A'changing
just for the sake of curiosity, does any one know that song i'm referring to? just wondering....
It has been a while since my last post, and a lot of things have been changing and others are about to change. One of the "nice" changes is the several friends have either moved back to the area or settled in the area. Having friends near by is really nice for actually keeping those friends lol :)
Tax season is almost over! That means I can have my Husband back! lol
but seriously, when that season really is over, more things will change. Adam feels called to return to school and the most likely one that he would go to is Samford University in Birmingham. So, the season ends for taxes, then it's on to the job applications and resumes and school applications .... then eventually, housing changes, which would mean that we would finally be leaving! aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
I was talking to a friend about all this the other day and he reminded me that it is all a part of God's plan and it's in His hands and it's my job to not worry (not that i was just yet). So here is to me not worrying :)
On the fun side of things, frisbee has been resumed for the season :)
A friend's wedding is coming up and showers are being planned and the house looks great! can't wait to see it again or even be allowed to help with the renovations :D :D :D
and i want to get my hair cut...it has gotten much too long for summer wear....

taste of spring
feels like the nice weather is coming to an end....might have to turn the heat back on. i'm so tired. its hard getting used to him being gone for so long. i miss him.
but life goes on....still have work, exercise, chiro, starbucks, Awana, and much much more ahead of me. hopefully, in a few days we will be hanging out with some friends. i miss hanging out more, but at least it does happen on occasion, lol :)
and eventually, spring really will be here!

Birthdays
starting in college, birthday celebrations turned from a day in length to a week or more....
this year was no different. the celebration began with a visit to the park and pizza with some close friends, then a date with the hubby and some cheddar bay biscuits ;) and on to a joint celebration with another friend whose bday is 2 days after mine. Mixed in with all these outings were various lovely cards and presents and starbucks :) so no, i don't miss college at all LOL The only downside to all the celebrating was a sinus infection....b/c the weather was really pretty for a few days and then got very cold again...
so now i'm 24. it doesn't feel any different, and nothing really has changed for me. i'm still working at a job, still involved with the youth and music ministry, still loving life the way it is right now :) but i also know that another year could bring so much change as the lives of the ppl around me can testify. one friend is pregnant with #2, another friend is engaged with the date during this next year, a sister is graduating highschool....the list could go on. yes, nothing is changed for me, but i am content with the place i'm in and staying aware for there may yet come some changes. as He said, His ways are not ours :)

Interlude
this weather in the middle of january just makes me so happy! and more so since i'm told its going to rain next week. so, Thank you, my Lord and Savior for this beautiful interlude of gorgeous weather! i think i might go for a run in the park :)
we started practicing what is called drive-thru play today at work. it involves employees being outside and taking orders deeper in the line in order to lessen any wait time and improve our quality of service. in a word, Fun at Work! it was cold out this morning, but still enjoyable, and even more so this afternoon!
part of my life for the last several years has been a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Dr. Toni Weschler. today i got another chance to share its information with a friend! the ability to share its information and enlighten people about an alternative to birth control really makes me feel great to contribute to another's comfort and well-being :)
here is the web address for the Weschler book http://tcoyf.com/
and for amazon to buy the book if you like http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Anniversary/dp/0060881909/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1296246236&sr=1-1
just copy and paste ;)
things are looking better for Kent. he is fighting off an infection in his lungs. he had surgery this morning for his broken pelvis (dont yet know how he did). he is much less dependent upon the life support machines (blood pressure, oxygen, heart rate, breathing, and much more) !!! Jesus, we give you praise!

Whatever you want to call it...
Fear, Faith, Trouble, Difficulties, and Refuge
This weekend we found out that a friend's brother was in a terrible accident. Kent is doing better at the moment, but I wanted to pass on something I came across today.
Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (NIV)
This is something that I have to be reminded of time and again (and that He will provide). God is our Refuge! He can handle anything that Satan dishes to us! We are His people, His sheep, and no one can take us from the palm of His hand.
Just thought this should be shared :)
btw, Adam has been condensing each of the Psalms into a status... http://twitter.com/adamcgreene?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=fb&utm_campaign=adamcgreene&utm_content=28088210399690752&ref=nf (Higlight, copy and paste, ya know the drill)

A New Year
So it's the beginning of a new year. So much we have learned, so much more still to learn! About each other, life together, growing in Christ...the list could go on! We spent time hanging out with family and friends, working hard and waiting out down times, working on making this apartment we rent into a home we love :) I am so thankful for the family that understands and the friends in the many levels of "life together" that encourage us to keep going and the ones that are following, reminding us that we have the responsibility and the privilege to encourage them as well.
Today has been an unexpected blessing of doing nothing and hanging out together and rearranging the apartment and recouping from the holidays. The snow started falling last night and we took a few pictures then came back in to snuggle and warm up. This morning after sleeping in and finding out that work was closed, we had a leisurely breakfast and tried new coffee. We bundled up and took a walk in our winter wonderland :) The streets and sidewalks were covered with a couple inches of snow topped by a layer of ice...what an unexpected feeling stepping down on it the first time! We wandered down to Main Street then over to the park. On the way, a few people were out with makeshift sleds enjoying their own winter wonderland, and there was a random police car roaming around with his chains on his tires making odd patterns on the lanes. We picked up chunks of ice from the playground and threw them in the air to make them shatter when they fell. The pieces flew in all directions making us laugh like little kids :)
Home again, we hung curtains on the doorway to the hall and chose new pictures of the nieces and nephews to put in the frames we hung on the walls. Last night, we finally took down the tree, and I decided that I wanted to change just slightly the way we had our couch laid out (its a sectional that is really easy to move). Now the room is more open and I think it will be more comfortable to have people over :)
ok, I've been over here a while by myself...the couch is looking very inviting, especially considering who is sitting there ;)
