Interlude

this weather in the middle of january just makes me so happy! and more so since i'm told its going to rain next week.  so, Thank you, my Lord and Savior for this beautiful interlude of gorgeous weather! i think i might go for a run in the park :)

we started practicing what is called drive-thru play today at work.  it involves employees being outside and taking orders deeper in the line in order to lessen any wait time and improve our quality of service. in a word, Fun at Work! it was cold out this morning, but still enjoyable, and even more so this afternoon!

part of my life for the last several years has been a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Dr. Toni Weschler. today i got another chance to share its information with a friend! the ability to share its information and enlighten people about an alternative to birth control really makes me feel great to contribute to another's comfort and well-being :)

here is the web address for the Weschler book   http://tcoyf.com/
and for amazon to buy the book if you like   http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-Your-Fertility-Anniversary/dp/0060881909/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1296246236&sr=1-1
just copy and paste ;)

things are looking better for Kent.  he is fighting off an infection in his lungs.  he had surgery this morning for his broken pelvis (dont yet know how he did). he is much less dependent upon the life support machines (blood pressure, oxygen, heart rate, breathing, and much more) !!! Jesus, we give you praise!

Whatever you want to call it...

Fear, Faith, Trouble, Difficulties, and Refuge

This weekend we found out that a friend's brother was in a terrible accident.  Kent is doing better at the moment, but I wanted to pass on something I came across today.

Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. (NIV)

This is something that I have to be reminded of time and again (and that He will provide).  God is our Refuge! He can handle anything that Satan dishes to us! We are His people, His sheep, and no one can take us from the palm of His hand.

Just thought this should be shared :)
btw, Adam has been condensing each of the Psalms into a status... http://twitter.com/adamcgreene?utm_source=fb&utm_medium=fb&utm_campaign=adamcgreene&utm_content=28088210399690752&ref=nf (Higlight, copy and paste, ya know the drill)

A New Year

So it's the beginning of a new year.  So much we have learned, so much more still to learn! About each other, life together, growing in Christ...the list could go on! We spent time hanging out with family and friends, working hard and waiting out down times, working on making this apartment we rent into a home we love :)  I am so thankful for the family that understands and the friends in the many levels of "life together" that encourage us to keep going and the ones that are following, reminding us that we have the responsibility and the privilege to encourage them as well.

Today has been an unexpected blessing of doing nothing and hanging out together and rearranging the apartment and recouping from the holidays. The snow started falling last night and we took a few pictures then came back in to snuggle and warm up.  This morning after sleeping in and finding out that work was closed, we had a leisurely breakfast and tried new coffee.  We bundled up and took a walk in our winter wonderland :)  The streets and sidewalks were covered with a couple inches of snow topped by a layer of ice...what an unexpected feeling stepping down on it the first time! We wandered down to Main Street then over to the park.  On the way, a few people were out with makeshift sleds enjoying their own winter wonderland, and there was a random police car roaming around with his chains on his tires making odd patterns on the lanes. We picked up chunks of ice from the playground and threw them in the air to make them shatter when they fell. The pieces flew in all directions making us laugh like little kids :)

Home again, we hung curtains on the doorway to the hall and chose new pictures of the nieces and nephews to put in the frames we hung on the walls.  Last night, we finally took down the tree, and I decided that I wanted to change just slightly the way we had our couch laid out (its a sectional that is really easy to move). Now the room is more open and I think it will be more comfortable to have people over :)

ok, I've been over here a while by myself...the couch is looking very inviting, especially considering who is sitting there ;)
